Overview
The Osa Peninsula is a place where you can find gold almost everywhere. This tour begins in a small rural community called Dos Brazos de Río Tigre, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the region’s mining history, the lifestyle of a miner, and the mining companies that operated in the area around 40 years ago. You’ll walk for about 30 minutes to visit an artificial lagoon, excavated by those same mining companies. Today, it is surrounded by a beautiful secondary forest, where you’ll also learn about its importance and natural regeneration. Finally, you’ll visit the Río Tigre, where, using simple and traditional mining tools, you’ll have a 90% chance of finding real gold. To wrap up this wonderful experience, you’ll get to squeeze and taste organic, fresh sugarcane using a manual "Trapiche" press. This tour is an excellent choice for children, families, and adults who prefer a short, easy walk. The trail is flat, making it a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
